Dark Ascend: Devlog #0 - Preface

This series will cover the creation process of my new title Dark Ascend in the of a devlog.


The purpose of this series will be to document my process, promote the title and to provide a guide for others who are begining their own creative journey.


Game development is a hard and demanding field, and I found that it is pretty difficult to put together a guiding line for the development of a project form start to finish. One can find many guides and tutorials that teachers various essential skills for making games such as programming, but rares are the guide which gives you an overall guide on how to take a project from the begining of an idea, to the shipping of the finished game.


This series is my attempt at filling up that void. I hope you will enjoy it, and follow me on my journey of making Dark Ascend the best game it can be.




 

Before I leave you, I wanted to give you an overview of the type of contents that one can expect to find in those articles.


I will cover how I come up with ideas, how to develop those ideas and present them in an attractive format. I will teach you how to use the power of AI to speed up and enhance you designs. Then I will show you how I schedule and plan my work throughout the different development phases of the project.


I will create tips and tricks articles about various topics as I discover them covering programming tips, art tips, game design tips, and more.


In the end, you will be able to re-trace the steps that I made to develop Dark Ascend, and hopefully be inspired to follow those footsteps.
